Recording Maria Schneider by David Korchin

Last May, at New York's storied American Academy of Arts and Letters, I documented composer Maria Schneider recording her music for large ensemble, just now released on ArtistShare. The music on "Winter Morning Walks" features renowned soprano Dawn Upshaw and the Australia Chamber and St Paul Chamber Orchestras; a fun shoot under very tricky lighting conditions.

"The Hamateurs" Convene by David Korchin

I just returned from another Amateur Radio convention, this time in Orlando. The Florida "Hamacation" draws thousands of radio operators, manufacturers, flea marketers and curious each year. This time I brought a field recorder for interviews. Hope to share the results soon

Swinging with Ann by David Korchin

The 55,000 square foot Wade Thompson Drill Hall at New York's Park Avenue Armory is the setting for artist Ann Hamilton's installation "the event of a thread," a large scale work that enjoins all the viewer's senses through motion, soound, spoken word, live animals, and of course, acting like a 7-year-old kid in a schoolyard. Now through January 06, 2013.
